Temperments of Shih Tzus

Shih Tzus are known for their friendly disposition. They typically get along well with adults, children, and other pets, making them fantastic companions for families and individuals alike.  Affectionate and Loyal This breed forms strong bonds with its owners, often showing great affection and loyalty. Shih Tzus thrive on human interaction and loves spending time with their families.  Alert and Watchful Despite their small size, Shih Tzus are alert and can make effective watchdogs. They are likely to bark to alert their owners of visitors or unusual noises. Adaptable Shih Tzus are adaptable to various living situations, thriving in both apartments and larger homes as long as they have the company of their beloved owners.  Stubborn Yet Trainable freestar Though sometimes displaying a stubborn streak, Shih Tzus are trainable with consistency and positive reinforcement. Early training and socialization are crucial for developing good behavior. (https://iheartdogs.com/shih-tzu-temperament-whats-a-shih-tzus-personality-like/)

How intelligent are Shih Tzu's

Shih Tzu's are not rated as being very intelligent. My guess is whoever rated these babies has never had one. These little ones line their toys up at their food bowls for company, protects their toys at all costs, talk to their humans, punish their humans if they are not given what they want, follow instruction when given even at a very young age, and believe they are royal. They have been treated as royal since the beginning of time and continue to behave in this manner. These babies are attuned to their owner's emotion and will love deeply. If you think you need extra support, then you need a Shih Tzu.

Are Shih tzu hypoallergenic?

Shih Tzus are considered a good choice for allergy sufferers as they have hair instead of fur, which tends to shed less.

Do Shih Tzu's Bark Often?

We have 3 Shih Tzu and 1 Pekingese, and it is on rare occasion that one of our babies will bark. If they hear someone coming to the door, they still do not bark. If one of our bassets' barks, then maybe just maybe they will bark.
